Program Structure

Intro to Javascript

Unit 1

Covers core fundamentals like navigating the terminal, primitive data types, and logical operators. Learn how to write basic functions and loops, laying the groundwork for the coming weeks.

Unit 2

Learn about data structures and their behavior, arrays, objects, and classes as well as the methods used to navigate and manipulate them. Explores Object Oriented programming.

Unit 3

Explore the basics of the world wide web, building navigable sites with HTML, and styling them with CSS. Learn modern and classic webpage design and best practices.

Programing Fundamentals

Unit 4

Learn about DOM manipulation, debugging, and scripting. Learn how to automate browser-based tests and handle form submissions and event listeners.

Unit 5

Discover modern front-end frameworks through the lens of React, a front-end library for designing highly responsive web applications. Learn the concept of maintaining state and hooks.

Unit 6

Discuss the building and utilization of servers and server-side code. Learn how to serve your web pages and dynamically render information on the page based on requests from the front end.

Servers, Databases, Frameworks

Unit 7

Create a self-contained server-side web application using Node.js and deploy it to the cloud. Learn how to pass state from the client to the server and back again, and how to use MongoDB.

Unit 8

React is the client-side web library from Facebook. React makes building complex user interfaces easier by breaking them up into small, simple, functional components.

Unit 9

Unit 9 provides a broad overview of concepts common to all databases, using MongoDB for illustration and practical examples of a document (NoSQL) DB.

Client Projects

Unit 10

Meet with your Capstone client and define the goals of your project. Establish initial recurring schedule for team meetings, sketch technical architecture, and start shipping code.

Unit 11

Spend every day building a real application with a real client in an iterative, agile process. Use all of the skills that you have learned to this point while coding on a team of your peers.

Unit 12

Put the finishing touches on your product. Learn how to pitch and how to communicate technical concepts. Finally, demo your app to friends, family and potential employers at Demo Day.
